Taryn is only slightly insane.
Can Anyone translate what the housekeeper is saying? I am terrible at spanish
“What in the devil is go time”
“What the devil is ‘Go Time’?”
KB’s spanish isn’t very good to begin with. In proper spanish it would have been ‘¿Que diablos es “go time”?’.
As a native spanish speaker I had to read three times that line to understand it.
My native Spanish speaking writer says that’s how he and his mother say it.
Then they speak fairly strange Spanish. I say exactly the same as Nobody.
And of course, dass and nobody, just like how english is spoken exactly the same way in every english speaking country spanish is spoken the same way in every spanish speaking country, right? Or for that matter english is spoken the same way throughout any one country.
I’m from Spain, and I frequently talk with people from all around south america. There are things that change from one place to another, but the basic grammar is mostly immutable.
A construction like “Que en el diablo es *****” has little to no sense at all. The only people making that kind of sentences are those who are learning spanish from a different language, like americans/english, or who are so used to using other language every day that they started mixing both languages, bastardizing spanish.
I mean no offense, and I like your comic a lot even with the weird spansih.
I forgot, this is the kind of “weird spanish” used by some of my own family who, being from Spain, spent most of their lives living in a foreign country.
And I’m sure some times my english is worse than that.
Yes, only slightly. But I guess you can’t fault her for her optimism and energy.
panels 1 & 2: oh, wow… that’s just… wow.
Don’t know why, but for a minute I thought that was Kasumi in the first panel, and she’d dyed her hair blonde. And I thought–great, now I won’t be able to tell the difference between her and Taryn. Must be the angle.
I don’t draw Kasumi with eyelid lines.
Possibly the cutest depiction of Taryn thus far… if you can sublimate the rampant egomania into something a little less scary. 🙂
lyze, it is not a matter of mannerisms or regionalisms. The sentence in the panel lacks syntax.
how on earth does she have such a tiny butt??? i thought that when you got pregnant you gained pounds…
Also you CAN still be fit yet pregnant at the same time, it’s just common for women to have to minimize their work efforts because of said pregnancy.
