Hate to bring back her paranoia on her father, but perhaps her dad has been leaking info to the government and keeping a closer eye on them all then they know, in exchange on keeping the bulk of what could happen at bay.
Or perhaps they legit everything happening is a bunch of nonsense, illusions and conmen/women pulling some stunt for money, like with the Ghostbusters.
