I know what you mean! the US is a country full of different ethnics, its good to see ppl living there can tell the diference. The word you are looking for when you say she isnt black is “morena” 🙂

Fair enough, I’d say I was Dutch before I’d say I was Caucasian but my girlfriend would say she was black before saying she was from Curacao (she would then sing praise about Curacao like a maniac and does). I think you confused everybody by telling Annika that she wasn’t black when actually she is 😛

She’d tell you she was Puerto Rican.

That would imply that African slaves weren’t taken to Puerto Rico and over Caribbean countries and left there. Or that they aren’t the largest minority still there.

Where America likes to do “African-American” people in other countries just consider them members of that country regardless of color. While technically Puerto Rico is part of America it still doesn’t stop them from considering themselves separate people.

I specifically mention that she’s Puerto Rican because she can speak Spanish and her family still follows much of the Puerto Rican Culture.

Nubia? Nah. It’s actually because I saw this and people complaining about the costume her the character being Latina so I decided Maya needed to dress like Wonder Woman. I dunno. She’s not ‘black’, she’s Puerto Rican.
