I’m pretty sure the Loki thing isn’t true. Disney does a crap ton of research and they were probably well aware that most people know of Hercules and not Herakles. Especially since there was a fairly popular TV show using that name running when the movie was released.

I rather enjoy the movie for what it is with all it’s inaccuracies. I’m preeeety sure Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus all wanted to rule the heavens and Hades was fucked over because he was the oldest and technically it was rightfully his. True, he’s not inherently evil*, but a tad upset with Zeus? Sure. Cause Zeus is a dick.

*In fact he seemed like the least douch-y of all the gods.

If anyone with any sense about mythology worked on that movie, they would have realised that “Hercules” is the Roman name for him, so since it’s set in Greece he should have been “Herakles”; his mother was NOT Hera – she actually hated him; and Hades was not evil and didn’t try to take over Mount Olympus – why would he want to rule the small realm that is the mortal world when he ruled the souls of every man and woman that had ever lived?

That was not the intention when I drew it. It’s supposed to be a turtle neck throughout.

Liked the Hercules reference. I heard a possibly apocryphal story that Herc’s original nemesis was slated to be “Loki” until someone who could mythologically tie their shoes saw that and mentioned Loki was in the wrong pantheon. The character design was too far along to change, so we get Hades by way of Loki.
