I moved
Yeah so this map here is our route. By car. With a cat.
We left North Dakota and it was in the mid 60s. Here it is in the mid 90s.
On the road we had McDonalds twice. Which is two more times than I’ve had in years.
Sin is a person on tumblr and Skin Deep is a comic.
The dead armadillo thing is funny to me because I said a few miles before, this is where we start seeing dead armadillos. Before then it was deer, Raccoons, a fox, and a coyote. Srsly, 1800 miles, roadkill becomes fascinating.
Nox, the cat, in the hotel room did not want to get back in the box. I had to talk sweetly to her and grab her before she could bite. She was grumpy. Later that day she started getting hot so we bought a bag of ice and sat her travel box on it. She seemed to enjoy it except for the condensation.
I’ve eaten so much you guys. So much.
Sushi, Greek food, Cuban food, crayfish, seafood, more greek food, more sushi.
Already gone to a comic book shop. There’s also a Comic con down here I’m looking at.
I am, once again, the whitest person in the south. SPF 9000 baby.
WHOOEEE. What made you want to go from the north to the DEEP DEEP south? .. in the middle of summer.
As a Louisiana resident for nearly a decade I can tell you it will get hotter around the next few months. It peaks around 110, so you’ll have some fun with that. I can’t really tell but it looks like you’re on the North Shore or West Bank am I right? Also a warning. We have no seasons. It’s summer. a week of nice weather and then winter for around a month.
I’m from Tennessee so I’m pretty used to the South’s bastard hotness. It was just the sudden shift that was bad. Plus the car has no AC so it’s like a little furnace, hence having to put the cat on a bag of ice.
We’re in the middle of the foot part and we kinda had to move because rent got ridiculous in North Dakota(srsly like $200 hike in the rent. FU guys.). We could get a decent place here for cheaper than our rent was in a place that doesn’t have termites and attic squirrels.
Oh lord. $200!? That’s stupid… I’m sorry about that, but I’m glad you guys are down here within “creeper range”. That poor cat I have to feel sorry for her, it can’t be fun having fur in this weather. Having fun so far, now that you guys are out of the sweaty car?
The thing about Louisiana (and florida, now that I think about it) is that along with the heat, it gives you bugs the size of helicopters and humidity that feels like you’re swimming in the air.
Still have the car to getting around is still a little hot. Pretty much everything else I said in the post. Except we have Popeye’s chicken today which I’ve never had. And being a giant sissy I thought it was a little too hot to be enjoyable.
All the reasons KB said plus air conditioning. We’re in Baton Rouge, sounds like you’re describing around Nawlins.
Lol. Just an hour north or west of there. There’s smaller places just south of you guys. Just curious where you guys were shacking up, sadly I’ve only been to Baton Rouge in passing.
I hate to change the subject but is there any plans to revel who Cait’s other baby belongs to? I also woder if they will grant her some additional powers
Of course. Just not now. It’s been written I just can’t say now long it will take to get to it.
Welcome to the swamps with the rest of us weirdos! Been in La all my life and gotta say, this heat has even us natives melting. ^^ Oh… >.> And it’s ‘crawfish’ not ‘crayfish’. Saying ‘crayfish’ will get you immediately pegged as a Northerner… and you don’t want that. ^_~ But welcome to the state and we hope you enjoy it here!
Yes, in Florida, we have heat (Lesson for you, KB: Heat index = actual temp. + humidity), and you really need the 35+ sunscreen unless you want to look like a cooked lobster/crawfish. Be glad you didn’t bother stopping where I am at (The Space Coast); it’s at the Southern side of “Lightning Alley” -and the weatherman is saying that it’s our turn for storms tomorrow afternoon. And we’re a lot like Louisiana: “Rainy Season” (starting mid-May) turns into “Hurricane Season” (June – Oct.); then it’s “Dry/Winter” season (Nov. – Feb.) that turns into “Fire Hazard Season” (Yes, we get that dry here; that’s Mar- end of April). And if you’re not used to all the greenery, you’re probably looking at allergies as well. I’m a Native Floridian – and I’m allergic to the grass!
So keep that in mind as well, or you’ll be miserable for the rest of the Summer. {Sorry about the long post, y’all, but I wanted to get in some info. about other places in the South. Y’all seem to forget about us Floridians except when there’s a Hurricane coming.} …and yes, A/C is a necessity, as you’ve found out already; but never leave the cat in the car or you will get charged with animal neglect!
